This technical procedure is essential for builders and contractors, involving the precise measurement of materials and labor based on drawings, sketches, and specifications created by architects and engineers. The primary goal of this process is to prepare tender and contract documents, ensuring that all necessary quantities are accurately accounted for.
Our in-house builders quants team are equipped with the expertise to provide both traditional and AutoCAD complex measuring services. We utilise advanced tools such as Cost X and Causeway measuring systems for various projects, although these technologies are complemented by the invaluable experience gained from manually measuring intricate structures on-site. This combination of technology and hands-on knowledge allows us to fully understand the complexities of the structures and spaces we work with.

Builders Quantities
Builders’ quantities can be generated using CATO, Excel-exported files, or your custom system where applicable. Typically, these quantities do not include services or the structural frame; however, these elements can be added for an agreed-upon additional fee if necessary.
The fee calculation is based on the gross total value of the project. For repeat works, a separate agreement can be made to provide a discount. The values are derived from the estimator’s drawings, which should be based on PDF or DWG files, along with a specification provided in Word or a similar format.
Recent projects completed include a new food retail unit with external works, a new football stadium, various university new builds and refurbishments, a high-quality hotel refurbishment, and a new car showroom and sports facility. Documents can be prepared in either trade or elemental format.
